Weekend Update

I'm sure you've noticed by now the Subscribe and Share/Save buttons at the bottom of each post. These buttons are there for the readers to take advantage of. They allow you to easily subscribe to this blog via your favorite feed reader, email, or any other medium. They also allow you to share posts that you like by emailing to your friends, posting to Facebook or Twitter, or any other social network. You can also bookmark the page for future reference through the buttons. If you haven't tried them out make sure you give them a try. They are pretty useful.

This week's episode of The Prepper Podcast features an interview with Flea from Be A Survivor. Head over to The Prepper Podcast to listen and don't forget to visit Flea at Be A Survivor.

Also something I've been wanting to do is have the readers send me photographs of their bug out bags, and contents. I would like to put together a gallery of bug out bags and get home bags to assist the readers in deciding which pack and supplies would be best for them. If you would like to participate you can email me the photos or post them on the forum and I'll post them on the blog if we can get a few different ones posted.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Weekend Update

I would like to welcome our newest contributor John aka PyramidZen Admin. John is a survival/preparedness instructor in Kentucky and has a lot of great information to contribute. His first post "Getting Your House in Order" has been posted so if you haven't checked it out make sure you do and give him a warm welcome.

Episode 3 of The Prepper Podcast has also been uploaded. This week I interviewed Jim from Everything Prepared. We discussed his website and some general prepping topics. I also discussed the prepper "mindset." There is a special offer exclusively for the listeners of The Prepper Podcast so make sure you take advantage of it. Details are included in the podcast.

The KPN meetup is in need of a location! If you are in the Bowling Green area please contact me with any potential leads to a location. A hotel meeting room would be nice. If you know anyone who could get us one let me know.

It's a beautiful day in Kentucky! I hope everyone enjoys their weekend!

This is the 200th post on Kentucky Preppers Network! Hurray! Not all posts were mine but it's been a great ride and I hope to bring another 200 to the readers over the course of next few months. Thanks to Bullseye and the readers who have made this possible.

Episode 2 of The Prepper Podcast is up for listen or download. Check it out, it features exclusive interviews with Mayberry and Riverwalker.

The meetup is still in the works. If you know of any good places to have it in Bowling Green let me know. Hopefully by next week I can set a definite date.

Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Weekend Update

First I want to welcome KPN's new contributing editor Darby! Darby is a Kentucky based survival blogger, and writes on his personal blog Homestead for Sure. We're thrilled that Darby wants to contribute. Be on the lookout for his first post in the coming weeks, and give him a warm welcome!

The meetup poll is closed and the winning location is Bowling Green. The next meetup will be in Bowling Green, Kentucky. A definite time and location hasn't been set yet but hopefully in the next couple months we can work it out. If anyone knows of any good places we can rent in Bowling Green let me know. And be on the lookout for more details.

The first episode of The Prepper Podcast is officially up. I had some technical difficulties with the first episode but this time the stream and download is working. Check out my previous post on KPN for more info, or head over to The Prepper Podcast to listen and download the file.

If you're on Facebook you can become a fan on the KPN Facebook page. Also, follow me on Twitter for instant updates, and my good friend Knine is also on Twitter, so make sure you follow him!

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Update

Make sure you stop in and welcome the new contributor to the Kentucky Preppers Network, Knine. He has a great first post up here, and already has another one coming on Monday. I'm very excited to be working with him and hope to bring a lot more content to the readers in the near future.

The meetup poll is still in full swing. We've had lots of votes and it seems like Bowling Green has edged past Hopkinsville as the meeting place. Any of the locations would work great for me, if you're in the area get your vote in for the upcoming meetup.

If anymore readers have any specific questions or topic suggestions you would like us to cover use the Contact Us button at the top to send me an email and we will post the answer to your question on the blog.

The Rand Paul money bomb was a success! He raised over $400,000 in one day. Great numbers as far as I'm concerned. Thanks to all who donated. It's the support at the grassroots level that is going to help him win this election.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Weekend Update

Hopkinsville is in the lead for the place to have the next KPN meetup. If you're in west or central Kentucky and would like to meet fellow preppers vote in the poll in the sidebar and we can find out where is the best place to have the meetup. It is still probably a few weeks off but we're starting the first stages of planning.

The Rand Paul money bomb is just 5 days away. You can pledge to donate on August 20th at RunRandRun.com. The goal is $1 million. I hope we can give him the money he needs. If we stand behind him there's no way he can loose. The people are ready for a candidate who is a political outsider. If you support liberty and freedom from government please consider supporting the Rand Paul campaign.

I don't have a lot to update you on this weekend. I am currently out on a nice camping trip at a local state park. I hope everyone has a great weekend. I'll be back Monday with a guest post I think everyone will enjoy.

Weekend Update

I made some changes to the website, let me know what you think. There is also a poll to vote on the next place to have a KPN Meetup. I would like to get one in the works so let me know where you would like to have it at.

Andrew let me know that there will be a prepper meetup open to anyone in Kentucky or Ohio. It will be at Zip's Cafe on Mt. Lookout Square in Cincinnati next Saturday (8/15) at 11:00am. They have around 12-14 seats reserved and are hoping to fill them all up! If you're in the area stop by and have lunch with some fellow preppers!

I also added the ability to get updates through your email address to the blog. This is separate from the KPN mailing list. It will just send you updates when post are made. Enter your email in the form at the top right corner of the blog.

There is a grassroots Money Bomb scheduled for Rand Paul's Senate Run on August 20. It's up to us to support Rand's Kentucky Senate run. Pledge to donate at Run Rand Run. Even if you only donate $10 every amount helps. Make sure you only donate at his official site Rand Paul 2010.

The Rand Paul for US Senate blog is back up and running. I post articles about Rand from different websites, and I also have Carl Wicklander from Uncouth Ruminations helping me out.

That reminds me if anyone in Kentucky would like to help contribute to the blog just let me know, I'm always looking for others to contribute their preparedness ideas and skills.

Have a great weekend!

Weekend Update

The radio show was a success. Tom (American Preppers Network), myself, Dave (West Virginia Preppers Network) & Bob (South Carolina Preppers Network) were on the air and it was a great show. We discussed the American Preppers Radio Network, and some other general prepping topics. I think we represented American Preppers Network to the fullest and hopefully James will have us back on more to talk about prepping and other survival topics. Thanks to all who listened live, if you didn't catch it live, you can download it here. It's about an hour long so if you get a chance check it out.

The Bitdefender Antivirus giveaway ends on MONDAY! Get your entries in and I will be announcing a winner on Tuesday.

Gary from West Virginia Preppers Network has a good post up on APN. It's titled "You Might Be A Prepper If..." which is a spoof of Jeff Foxworthy's legendary comedy skit. Great article Gary.

Angela from Utah Preppers Network shows you how to make the best char cloth in her post "Making Better Char Cloth." Char cloth is a great thing to keep in a bug out bag and is basically a type of tinder.

Meadowwood Garden has a good post titled Pico De Gallo. If you like Pico check out this recipe, it's a good one.

BTW I'm still adding people to the Kentucky Preppers Network Mailing List. If you would like to receive periodic updates click here for more details. Have a great weekend everyone!

Keeping your important documents safe is something all preppers should practice. Flea posted a good article on this very subject and details how he stores his important documents. Be A Survivor

"Great minds think alike." Riverwalker posted a good article about multi-tools that goes along with my post A Man's Best Friend. Stealth Survival

Even if the economy recovers and everything ends up being alright, living more self sufficient, debt free, and having a rotating food storage will only make your life better. M.D. Creekmore had a reader challenge his way of life. The Survivalist Blog

Weekend Update

Exactly 1 week from today is the Kentucky Preppers Network meetup. Tell your friends, tell your family, lets try to make this a big first meetup. If this one is too far for you to make the trip, don't worry, more will be coming in the near future at different places across the state. Details are HERE.

We just started round 2 of the Kentucky Preppers Network giveaways. We teamed up with Everything Prepared to bring everyone that plays something free. We will be giving more to the grand prize winners. Details are HERE.

Santa from West Virgina Preppers Network is working on getting a HAM radio network together. This would be great for off grid communications between preppers. I would like to get myself a HAM radio and get certified. If you are a HAM operator, check it out and get connected with other preppers. Details are HERE.

We now have 16 members on Kentucky Preppers Network Forum. We are getting more members and more activity. Feel free to post articles, tips, questions, or anything else you would like at the forum. Details are HERE.

The heat index here in KY has been around 100 the past couple days, stay cool and have a great weekend!

We will be having another contest here at Kentucky Preppers Network next week and some vendor deals. Check back for more details on this one, I think everyone will like this.

Also, the WHO declared a Level 6 pandemic last week. Nothing to panic about, just stay sharp as I'm sure the readers already do. Refer back to my previous post about being prepared for an outbreak. You're best defense against any flu is stay healthy! Get 8 hours of sleep at night, eat right, and wash your hands.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Weekend Update

If you haven't read any of FerFal's writings on the economic collapse in Argentina in 2001 this is a must read for any preppers. Argentina was the richest country in South America and their situation 10 years ago is very similar to what's happening in the United States today. FerFal has a blog you can check out here, and here's a link to a lot of his writings from Frugal Squirrel that were saved and posted on one single site. He provides first hand experience about what he had in his preps, and what he wished he had before it started.

The Kentucky Preppers Network Meet-up is in the works.
I have close to a dozen people that have confirmed they will come. Bring your family and friends. We have plenty of space and a nice place to meet at. I'll be bringing some handouts and material for everyone and we will be discussing the plans for the blog, and setting up networks within our state.

Jay over at New Jersey Preppers Network posted a template for Microsoft Access that allows you to create a database for your preps. This is really cool and a great way to keep your preps organized. I keep all my preps in a spreadsheet but I might have to migrate my spreadsheet into an Access database.

Also, we have a couple new followers for the blog, and I would like to extend a big warm welcome to them. And our feed readers has finally made it up to 100 readers. Thanks to all who have us added on your feed reader, and be sure to tell your friends and family to add the Kentucky Preppers Network feed to their feed reader.

Weekend Update

Today is the last day for the KPN Giveaway. We have got a great response from the readers and will be announcing the winner sometime tomorrow. Thanks to all who participated and be on the lookout for another giveaway in the near future.

I also announced the KPN Meetup that will take place at the end of the month.
This is a Regional Prepper Network meetup that is hosted by KPN. Any and all other prepper networks are invited to attend. Illinois Preppers Network will be there, any other networks in the area are welcome to attend. Including, but not limited to, Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

We also have a new affiliate at KPN.
GeoLife is a company that sells chemical free organic products for gardens and farms, environment and livestock, food and beverage preservation and much more. Check them out if you get a chance, great for preppers with gardens looking for a natural fertilizer.

Weekend Update

The weekend is here, and this one is a long one. I have Monday off and hopefully the majority of everyone else does too. I hope everyone has a good Memorial Day weekend, a time to fellowship with friends, family, and remember the ones who fought and are fighting for our freedom and liberty.

We still have the Kentucky Preppers Network giveaway going on, and on June 1st we will announce with winners for this one and Bullseye's giveaway. Click Here to enter to win a M61 Finnish Gas Mask and Click Here to enter to win on Bullseye's blog and double your chances.

Also the Kentucky Preppers Network meet-up is in the works, and hopefully we can get a date nailed down and start planning a time and place. It will probably be on a Saturday and most likely be in Lexington, KY. Keep an eye out for more info on this.

If you haven't noticed I made some changes to the site. I added a couple more affiliates including Mountains Plus, Security Pro USA, American Flags, and 101 Camping & Outdoor Recipes. Great sites with great products and prices, check them out if you get a chance.

And I have created a Twitter for Kentucky Preppers Network, my name on Twitter is KentuckyPrepper, you can click the link at the bottom of the post to follow me on Twitter.

Once again, have a great weekend everyone!! Stay safe and thanks for visiting Kentucky Preppers Network.
