Kitchen Gadgets - Measuring Cups

Hopefully if you have any sort of kitchen you already have a decent set of measuring cups. Measuring cups are pretty much a must have if you plan on cooking anything. Owning a complete set of measuring cups is important when cooking meals that require specific measurements of items. Veteran cookers might be able to get by with eyeballing and estimating the amounts but for all others I would advise measuring it out to ensure the right amount is used.

In an emergency situation where you are cooking solely from your food storage getting the amounts of each ingredient correct would be extremely important. You don't want to use too much of one ingredient and risk running out of it sooner than others. If you build your food storage based on serving sizes getting these right to make your food storage last as long as you planned is a critical part. You don't want to be caught with no measuring cups and unable to get the amounts right for your food when cooking from your food storage.

I picked up a cheap measuring cup set from Wal-Mart that has all the standard types of measurements in one easy to keep up with set. This was less than $5 so there's no reason not to have a good set of measuring cups. It wouldn't be a bad idea to get a set and keep it exclusively with your food storage so it wouldn't get lost. It's never a bad idea to have more than one of anything relating to your preparedness plan. You never know when you might misplace or break something and it would be helpful to have an extra one.
